Bhubaneswar/Jayapur: Ahead of Independence Day, Odisha Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain participated in a Tiranga Yatra organised in Jayapur as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.The Tiranga is a symbol of national pride, self-respect and unity, Swain said, adding that the Tiranga Yatra rekindles patriotic spirit and reminds people of the sacrifice, struggle and martyrdom of the freedom fighters.The procession was organised from Rajanagar Chhak under Jayapur Municipality to Vikram Deb University, with a 50-metre-long national flag being displayed during the event. Hundreds of students, youths, intellectuals, social workers and local residents participated in the procession carrying the national flag.Several roads across the city were decorated with Tiranga flags, adding to the festive atmosphere ahead of Independence Day.Koraputia folk art was a major attraction during the procession, with folk artists performing Dhemsa dance to traditional music. Minister Swain also joined the artists in the Dhemsa dance.The procession passed through the main roads of Jayapur before concluding at the Vikram Deb University campus. The city echoed with slogans of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” during the event.District Planning Committee Chairman and Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha, Jayapur MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati, officials of the district administration, local leaders and others also participated in the programme.
