Koraput:The body of a Class VIII student was recovered from a drain behind his school in a blood-soaked condition, three days after he went missing from a hostel managed by the ST & SC Development Department.
The incident has been reported from the Gumuda Government High School premises under Borigumma block in Koraput district.
The deceased has been identified as Gurunath, a student from Marada Maliguda village under Haradaguda panchayat. He was staying in the school hostel.
According to reports, the student had been missing from the school premises since Monday. His body was found today in an abandoned condition from the drain behind the school.
It is alleged that the school authorities did not inform the police or higher officials about the missing of the student.
The family members of the deceased have also alleged that they were not informed by the school authorities about the disappearance.
Expressing concern over the incident, local Zilla Parishad member Nrusingha Nath Satapathy termed the incident as unfortunate and demanded strict action by the district administration against those responsible.
While no reaction has been received from the school or the departmental officials regarding the incident, B. Singhpur police reached the spot, recovered the body and have started an investigation.
