Keonjhar, August 24: In a shocking incident that has sent ripples of panic through the town, the owner of ‘Archana Traders’ was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the store’s rest room at Ghuturu under the Keonjhar Town police station limits.The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Archana Parida. Police have arrested her husband, Abhimanyu Parida, in connection with the case and recovered a suicide note from the crime scene.The matter came to light when the victim’s husband, Abhimanyu, informed the police that a body was lying in a pool of blood inside the showroom premises, which deals in agricultural equipment and EV scooters.Upon arrival, police found Archana’s body on the floor with multiple injury marks on her head and body. Preliminary inspections revealed severe bleeding from the head, right big toe, nose, and ears, alongside scratch marks on the left side of her chest, strongly pointing toward a brutal homicide rather than a suicide.According to the victim’s family, Abhimanyu—a native of Handibhanga village under Keonjhar Sadar police station—had married Archana from Rasamatala village in Mayurbhanj district back in 2014. The couple lived in a rented house in the Baniapat area and has two children: an 11-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son.The victim’s brother, Ajay Kumar Barik, lodged a formal complaint alleging that Abhimanyu routinely tortured and assaulted Archana over dowry demands. The FIR further states that Abhimanyu murdered his sister and attempted to destroy evidence.A suicide note recovered from the spot claimed that the husband was not responsible for her death. However, discrepancies in the handwriting have heightened police suspicion.A scientific team has gathered crucial forensic evidence from the spot, and the disputed suicide note has been sent to a forensic laboratory for handwriting analysis.Following the arrest, police brought Abhimanyu to the crime scene for reconstruction and further investigation, leading to high tensions and angry confrontations between police and the victim’s grieving family members.Town Police Station Inspector-in-Charge Shrikanta Sahu confirmed that a murder case has been registered. The body was handed over to the family following an autopsy, and the accused husband is scheduled to be forwarded to court.
