Odisha CM reviews Traffic Decongestion Plan for twin cities

During a review meeting on the Traffic Decongestion Plan for the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised the need to develop the connecting roads between the twin cities, along with their surrounding areas, in a cleaner, more organised and aesthetically appealing manner.

Bhubaneswar: During a review meeting on the Traffic Decongestion Plan for the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised the need to develop the connecting roads between the twin cities, along with their surrounding areas, in a cleaner, more organised and aesthetically appealing manner.

Majhi directed the concerned departmental secretaries and officials to undertake immediate repairs of major roads and traffic junctions in the twin cities that are currently in poor condition.

He also stressed the construction and expansion of eight-lane roads to improve traffic flow. He called for ensuring seamless connectivity for pilgrims and tourists travelling from Cuttack through Bhubaneswar towards Puri, particularly during periods of heavy traffic.

As part of the decongestion plan, emphasis was also laid on the development of major junctions, construction of flyovers and overbridges at key locations, installation of smart traffic signal systems and CCTV surveillance, and strict action against illegal parking.

Majhi called for coordinated efforts among the Commissionerate Police, Housing & Urban Development Department, Works Department and local administration to ensure safer transportation for residents and undertake the overall redevelopment of the twin cities.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Saswat Mishra, Works Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Twin City Police Commissioner S. Devadatta Singh and other senior departmental officials.
