Odisha Government Takes Strict Action Over Rourkela Circuit House Controversy; Nazir, Officials Removed

Rourkela: The Odisha Government has adopted a strict stance over the Rourkela Circuit House controversy, with Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari directing a high-level departmental inquiry into the matter.Describing the incident as serious, the minister said it had deeply shocked the public. Several administrative measures have been initiated to fix accountability and prevent similar irregularities in the future. Nazir, Concerned Officials Removed Following the Revenue Minister’s directions, the Nazir in charge of the Circuit House and other concerned officials have been removed from their respective responsibilities with immediate effect.Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari has made it clear that strict disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found directly or indirectly involved in violations of the rules governing the Odisha Circuit Houses.Action against the concerned officials will be initiated in accordance with the applicable rules once responsibility is established through the inquiry.The government has emphasised the need to ensure greater accountability in the management and allotment of Circuit House facilities. New SOP to Be Implemented Across OdishaIn the wake of the Rourkela incident, the state government has decided to introduce a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) across Odisha to prevent similar irregularities in the future.According to the Minister, the booking system for all Circuit Houses across the state will be made completely online, along the lines of the Odisha Bhawan booking system. The move is aimed at enhancing transparency in the allotment process and curbing irregularities in the management of Circuit House facilities.
