Bhubaneswar, May 6: Odisha will soon launch the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, with the process likely to begin later this month. A notification is expected shortly following a meeting with multiple states.Ahead of the exercise, voter mapping—linking the 2025 electoral roll with the 2002 list—has reached 93.8% completion. Out of 33.64 million voters, over 31.56 million have been mapped, while around 2.08 million remain pending.Officials said mapping could not be completed for voters whose names or family records were not found in the 2002 roll. Bhubaneswar has recorded the lowest progress, with only 79.57% mapping completed.After the notification, Booth Level Officers will conduct door-to-door verification. Voters with completed mapping won’t need to submit documents, but others must provide at least one valid ID proof from a prescribed list.Since 2025, nearly 9.8 lakh names—of deceased, duplicate, and ineligible voters—have been removed during the revision process.
