Kataka, September 28: Puri Titans registered a 13-run victory over Rourkela Superstars in the Bharat Masala Odisha T20 League – CM Trophy at the iconic Barabati Stadium in Kataka, with Sumit Sharma’s five-wicket haul, including a hat-trick, proving decisive in the rain-reduced contest. With the match reduced to 10 overs per side, Puri Titans posted 86/6 after being asked to bat. The Titans had a slow start and struggled to build momentum in the early overs before Sarbeswar Mohanty turned the innings around with an explosive knock. Mohanty smashed 51 off just 18 deliveries, providing the much-needed acceleration and helping Puri put up a competitive total in the shortened game. In reply, Rourkela Superstars also found it difficult to settle into their chase as Puri’s bowlers kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. Sumit Sharma led the attack with a sensational spell, claiming five wickets, including a hat-trick, to dismantle the Superstars’ batting line-up and keep them 13 runs short of the target. Reflecting on his performance, Sumit said, “I’m happy that I could contribute to the team’s victory. Getting a hat-trick and picking up five wickets feels special, but the most important thing is that we played well as a team and secured two valuable points. Individual performances matter, but helping the team win is always the biggest satisfaction.” Sumit received the Moment of the Match award from Nitesh Choudhary, Co-owner, Puri Titans. Sarbeswar Mohanty was named Player of the Match for his match-defining half-century and received the award from Naba Krishna Pradhan, General Manager (Production), Bharat Masala.
