Prez Murmu to visit Odisha on April 21, inaugurate key projects in Rourkela

Bhubaneswar, April 20: President Droupadi Murmu is set to visit Odisha on April 21, where she will inaugurate four major development projects in Rourkela.According to the schedule, the President will depart from New Delhi on a special flight in the morning and arrive at Jharsuguda Airport. She will then travel by helicopter to Rourkela Airport, where she is expected to land at around 11:10 AM. Elaborate arrangements have been made to welcome her with traditional tribal performances.From the airport, the President will proceed to Rourkela One, where she will inaugurate a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre built at a cost of ₹48 crore, aimed at enhancing city-wide CCTV surveillance. She will also inaugurate a Tribal Museum developed at a cost of ₹40 crore.Later, the President will attend a public meeting at Sector-13 Melana Ground. The event is expected to witness participation from nearly 10,000 students and over 35 cultural groups. During the programme, she will virtually inaugurate additional projects, including the Koel Nagar Recreation Park (₹42.44 crore) and the Science Park and Planetarium at Chhend (₹27 crore).Security arrangements have been tightened across the city, with deployment of forces and plainclothes intelligence personnel at sensitive locations.Union Minister Jual Oram has already reviewed the preparations. This marks the President’s first visit to Rourkela after assuming office. Authorities in Sundargarh district have completed all preparations to accord her a grand welcome.
