The sacred Chandan Yatra commenced today at Jagannath Dham, Puri, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya.True to its name, the festival centres around sandalwood paste and water, offering divine respite during peak summer. The deities of Shree Jagannatha Temple are taken out in grand processions for a ceremonial voyage on water at Narendra Pushkarini. Devotees witness the rituals with reverence as the divine idols embark on their symbolic journey.The first 21 days mark the Bahara Chandan Yatra, or the outer phase. During this period, the deities are carried to Narendra Pushkarini for the ceremonial water voyage.
