Tamil Nadu CM Vijay honours Asian Games and Chess Olympiad medalists

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched the ‘Dream Olympics’ initiative and honoured athletes from the state who won medals and represented India at the 2026 Asian Games and the 46th Chess Olympiad.The felicitation ceremony, organised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT), took place at The Leela Palace in Chennai. During the event, Vijay recognised the athletes’ achievements across various sports and presented them with cash incentives as a token of appreciation.Washington Sundar, a member of the Indian cricket team that won gold, expressed his gratitude for the recognition. In a post on X, he described the honour from the Chief Minister as a proud and special moment that motivates him to continue striving for excellence. He wrote: “An honour that makes it even more special. Grateful to receive this recognition from the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay. A proud moment, and a reminder to keep striving for excellence!”Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa, who was part of the team that won the silver medal at the Chess Olympiad, also conveyed his thanks to the Chief Minister, the Sports Minister, and SDAT for their support. He stated that the recognition would encourage athletes to achieve more for their state and country.
