Toghlak Policies of the State Geovernment Responsible for the Decline of the Education System: BJD

  • Government Should Not Attempt to Intimidate Students in the Name of Discipline
  • Academic Environment Has Been Destroyed Due to Unnecessary Interference by BJP Leaders in Educational Institutions
  • Government’s Approach Towards ‘Gen-Z’ Is Not Appropriate
  • When There Is No Biometric Attendance System for Teachers and Staff, How Justifiable Is It to Introduce One for Students?

Bhubaneswar, 27/08/2026: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has strongly criticised the State Government’s announcement that a biometric attendance system (biometric identity-based attendance) for college students will be introduced on an experimental basis in colleges across the State. The BJD questioned how justified it is to introduce a biometric attendance system when, during the last two years of the BJP Government’s rule, the academic environment in colleges across the State has deteriorated and the basic requirements of students have not been fulfilled.

In a press statement issued on behalf of the Biju Janata Dal, party spokesperson and Media Coordinator Dr. Lenin Mohanty said that the State Government’s proposal to introduce a biometric attendance system is unacceptable. The academic environment in colleges across the State has deteriorated. BJP leaders are unnecessarily interfering in the management of colleges. The State Government has completely failed to fulfil the basic requirements of students. Adequate numbers of teachers, textbooks and other necessary facilities are not available.
