Youth’s Body Found Floating In Pond In Sundargarh, Wife Alleges Murder

Sundargarh: The decomposed body of a youth was recovered from a pond at Ratanpada in Kanhaighara village under Talsara police limits in Sundargarh district, police said on Monday.The deceased was identified as Arabin Kujur of the same village. Police recovered the body from the pond, conducted a post-mortem examination and later handed it over to the family.Arabin’s wife, Tarani Kujur, has lodged a murder complaint alleging that three persons of the village were involved in the killing.According to the complaint, on April 27 around 8 pm, two villagers — Ishak Tirkey and Budhu Tirkey — had come to their house to purchase chickens. They allegedly took the chickens to the nearby house of Manoj Bada to weigh them, and Arabin accompanied them.Tarani alleged that Manoj Bada (45) and his two sons, Abhishek Bada (24) and Uday Bada (21), abused Arabin over an earlier road accident involving Manoj’s son’s car. She further stated that Ishak Tirkey later intervened and took Arabin away from the spot.Two days ago, Arabin had reportedly informed his wife over phone about the altercation. Since then, he had remained missing and his mobile phone was switched off, the complaint stated.The matter came to light after Tarani’s uncle-in-law spotted a body floating in the pond while grazing cattle on Monday morning and informed the family. Villagers then alerted the Bandega police outpost.Police reached the spot, recovered the body and later confirmed the identity as Arabin Kujur.Tarani has filed a written complaint with the police accusing Manoj Bada and his two sons of murdering her husband. No arrests have been made so far, police said, adding that an investigation is underway.
