New Delhi,14/10:India’s Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that India will participate in a meeting related to the Taliban next week. This meeting is being organized by Russia. Russia said on Thursday it would invite representatives of the Taliban to the Moscow draft meeting on Afghanistan on October 20. India is also going to participate in this meeting. India’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, “We have received an invitation to the Moscow draft meeting on Afghanistan on October 20, we will take part in it as necessary.”
Apart from Russia, the Taliban and India, China, Pakistan and Iran are also involved in the Moscow talks. This will be the first edition of the Moscow talks on Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power. It is believed that this meeting in the Russian capital can formally bring India face to face with the Taliban. If this happens, this will be India’s first formal meeting with the Taliban after the capture of Kabul.
For information, let us tell you that after the Moscow talks, Russia has also decided to convene a meeting of Troika Plus- Russia, America, China and Pakistan to discuss the issues of Afghanistan. According to a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow is concerned about Daesh/ISIS activities in Afghanistan. The Moscow format of the talks is expected to focus on the growing threat of terrorism in Afghanistan.
