Breast Cancer Awareness Session Organised at Tata Steel Joda

More than 500 participants attended session

Joda, July 27, 2024: In an effort to enhance awareness about breast cancer and its early detection among
community members and women employees, an awareness session was organized by Tata Steel’s Ore, Mines
& Quarries (OMQ) Division and Tata Trusts on Friday.
The session saw participation from senior officials including Rajesh Kumar, Chief Joda, Dr Dhirendra
Kumar, Chief Medical Officer (OMQ), Dr Suchismita Das, Tata Main Hospital, Joda, employees of Tata
Steel, contract workforce and women from the community.
The session was facilitated by Dr. Vinita Singh, General Manager, Medical Services, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur,
along with Dr. Amitabh Kumar Upadhyay, Consultant & In-Charge, Medical Oncology, Tata Main Hospital,
Jamshedpur.
Dr. Upadhyay, an esteemed cancer specialist, emphasized the critical role of awareness in combating breast
cancer. He highlighted that early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes and urged women to
prioritize regular screenings and self-examinations.
Dr. Vinita Singh also addressed the attendees, reiterating the importance of regular health check-ups and
awareness in early cancer detection.
The session aimed to empower participants with knowledge on the importance of early detection, signs and
symptoms of breast cancer, and available treatment options.
This initiative highlights Tata Steel's commitment to promoting health and wellness within its workforce and
the broader community.
