Vedanta Aluminium Conducts Weeklong Campaign on Malaria, Dengue, and Diarrhoea Awareness in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda, Odisha; 20 th August 2024: Vedanta Aluminium, India's largest producer of
aluminium, recently concluded a weeklong health awareness campaign aimed at combating
malaria, dengue, and diarrhoea (MDD) in Jharsuguda district. The campaign reached an
impressive 3,500 individuals, including children, adults, and senior citizens, across 28
villages and 2 special schools in Jharsuguda. This effort was led by Vedanta Aluminium in
partnership with the District Health Administration, underscoring the company's deep
commitment to enhancing community health in remote areas.
Throughout the week, the campaign focused on educating communities about the causes
and prevention of malaria, dengue, and diarrhoea. Mobile Health Units (MHUs) facilitated
detailed discussions on how these diseases impact health, the importance of early detection,
and the necessary precautions to prevent their spread. Special emphasis was placed on
sustainable practices and emergency response preparedness, empowering communities to
effectively manage and mitigate the risks associated with these diseases. The campaign
featured key contributions from Mr. Birat Raja Pradhan, consultant for vector-borne diseases
at Control Department, District Health Administration and Dr. Jayanarayan Pujari, a Doctor
from Vedanta’s Mobile Health Units.
In addition to the awareness sessions, Vedanta Aluminium distributed educational leaflets,
highlighting preventive measures such as using insecticide-treated mosquito nets, applying
insect repellents, and maintaining clean surroundings to reduce breeding grounds for
disease vectors.

District Health Administration, added, “This collaborative effort with Vedanta Aluminium
has been instrumental in reaching out to the community and providing them with essential
knowledge and resources to fight against vector-borne diseases. By empowering individuals
with the right information, we are taking a significant step toward reducing the risks
associated with MDD in this region.”

provides doorstep healthcare services to about 50,000 people annually, gives educationalsupport to more than 13,000 students, has planted almost 1.50 lakh trees in partnership with
locals at the community level.
