National Space Science and Technology Conference Celebrates “National Space Day” at GIET University

Gunupur:(AO Bureau) :-Marking the first anniversary of India’s successful Chandrayaan-2 mission to the lunar surface, GIET University, Gunupur, hosted the inaugural “National Space Day” with a National Space Science and Technology Conference today.

The event was inaugurated amidst celebrations honoring the achievements of the Chandrayaan-2 mission launched precisely one year ago. Dr. Aryasoumyajula Subhramanyam, a distinguished professor from IIT Madras, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Key university officials graced the occasion including the Vice-Chancellor; Dr. AVNL Sharma, Registrar; Dr. NV Jagannadha Rao, Pro-Chancellor; Dr. Lalit Mohan Patnaik, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology; Dr. AB Srinivas Rao, and Conference Coordinator; Dr. Raghvendra Kumar. who also served as the moderator.

The conference commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. AB Srinivas Rao, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, who encouraged students and attendees alike. He further emphasized the importance of discipline and dedication in scientific pursuits.

Throughout the conference, speakers highlighted the profound connections between ancient mythology and modern science, illustrating how traditional knowledge systems intertwine with contemporary technological advancements. They also discussed the relentless efforts and collaborative endeavors that culminated in the successful lunar landing of Chandrayaan-2.

Dr. Aryasoumyajula Subhramanyam delivered an insightful keynote speech, shedding light on the significance of space exploration and the technological strides achieved through dedicated research and innovation.

In recognition of student excellence, the winners of the Watertech Hackathon, conducted earlier at the university, were honored. Dr. Bidush Kumar Sahoo and Mr. P. Sudheer Babu presented awards to the outstanding participants, celebrating their innovative solutions and contributions.

The event also featured presentations by participants of the Watertech Hackathon, showcasing their projects and ideas aimed at addressing water-related challenges.

Concluding the conference, Dr. Raghvendra Kumar extended his gratitude to all attendees, speakers, and organizers in his vote of thanks, acknowledging their efforts in making the symposium a success.
