Meramandali, August 23, 2024: Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM) conducted a full-scale on-site emergency mock
drill at its Captive Power Plant (CPP) as part of the Angul District Crisis Group's schedule, on August 23, 2024. The drill simulated a fire scenario at the LDO tank area of the 165MW power unit.
The mock drill was supervised by members of the Angul District Crisis Group, along with government
officials, including Manoj Kumar Mishra, Assistant Director of Factories and Boilers, Angul Zone-1.
Representatives from local industries such as NTPC Kaniha, JITPL, Aryan Energy Pvt. Ltd., Global Coal &
Mining Ltd. and JSPL Angul were present.
Key personnel from TSM, including Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Chief Power Systems cum Factory Manager,
TSM CPP, Smruti Ranjan Mohapatra, Head, Operations, TSM CPP and Manoranjan Pattnaik, Senior Manager,
Safety and other senior officials actively participated in the safety mock drill.
Following the exercise, the Site Incident Controller, Combat Team Leader, Rescue Team Leader, and Auxiliary
Team Leader provided a detailed briefing. Observers emphasized the importance of such drills in preparing for
real emergencies and praised the efficiency and effectiveness of the exercise.
Through such simulated exercises, TSM continues to reiterate its commitment to ensuring ‘Zero Harm’ and
underscore the significance of industry emergency preparedness.
