4 dead as massive fire breaks out at Surat Steel Plant

Gujarat: Massive fire breaks out at Surat Steel Plant. Four workers killed and many injured. A major fire broke out at a steel plant in Surat’s Hazira industrial area on Tuesday evening. Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that the incident took place at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited. He said that the fire spread due to burning coal. Four workers lost their lives due to the fire. Four workers who were in a lift of the factory died in the fire. Police reached the spot and started an investigation. A company spokesperson said that the incident took place due to a failure of equipment at the Corex plant. The families of those who lost their lives will be provided with all possible assistance. Now, emergency protocols have been activated immediately. The local area has been cordoned off. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained and an investigation is underway. It is worth noting that a horrific fire broke out at a private hospital in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. Six people lost their lives and 20 were injured in the fire. The fire broke out at City Hospital on Trichy Road at 10 pm on Thursday. The fire was so fierce that it quickly spread to the upper floors.
