Deputy Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Arundhati Bandhakala.

SUBARNAPUR : The foundation stone laying and ground-breaking ceremony of “Arundhati Bandhakala” was held by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Varddhan Singh Deo in Chhepapali village of Subarnapur district on Sunday. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Varddhan Singh Deo said that this modern enterprise of handloom and textile industry can help in the marketing of handloom of Subarnapur district and western Odisha, along with artistic craftsmanship. The aim is to enhance the inherent skills and art of the weaving community, ensure the preservation of handloom heritage and revival of traditional craftsmanship, attract youth and women artisans to the art of weaving, give a structural form to unorganized handloom artisans as cottage industries and develop tourism in Western Odisha. With the establishment of 3,000 looms in the 10-acre Arundhati Weaving Campus, more than 5,000 weavers can become self-reliant. In particular, thousands of weavers, dyers and weavers who produce Subarnapuri Patsadhi and dress material fabrics will benefit from this project. On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister was present as the guest of honour at the ground-breaking ceremony, where MP Sangeeta Kumari Singhdeo, Birmaharajpur MLA Er.Raghunath Jagdala, Collector Anya Das and Managing Director of Arundhati Bandhakala Brahmanand Meher were present as the guests. They felicitated 7 handloom artisans and distributed modern handloom machines to 20 women weavers. On this occasion, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana cards were distributed to 10 beneficiaries.Thousands of weavers and weavers of Subarnapur district participated in the ceremony.
