Odisha Govt Embraces AI in Agriculture to Boost Farmers’ Profits

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in agriculture, stressing that it will help farmers maximise profits by providing advanced crop information.Speaking at Lok Seva Bhavan, Singhdeo thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for increasing the agriculture and allied sector budget by 12.3 per cent. He said the government’s commitment is clear: enhancing farmers’ income through technology-driven solutions.The meeting, attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav and Director Agriculture Shubham Saxena, showcased innovative tools. Krishivaas presented a smartphone-based app capable of crop monitoring, disease prediction, and temperature control. Officials also discussed satellite-based digital crop surveys, underscoring Odisha’s proactive approach to modernising agriculture.Singhdeo emphasised that AI integration will streamline farming practices, reduce risks, and improve productivity. The initiative aligns with Odisha’s broader vision of sustainable growth, ensuring farmers benefit from cutting-edge technology.
