Mumbai: During January 24 and January 25 2025, the officers at Airport Commissionerate of Mumbai have seen a major success in seizure of gold, currency and drugs. According to reports, the officers at Airport Commissionerate of Mumbai Zone-III have seized NDPS weighing 751.00 grams having illicit market value of approx Rs. 7.51 Crore in Case one, the drugs were seized from the body cavity. The capsules containing white coloured substance of suspected Cocaine was ingested as well as concealed inside body cavity by the passenger. Reports further said that, gold of net weight 1.16 Kg provisionally valued at Rs.86.68 Lakh in case two was seized yet again from the body cavity. The gold seized was in the form of crude gold dust mixed with wax. Foreign Currency equivalent to Rs. 22.40 Lakh was seized from the cavity of a trolley bag in another case. In the incident as many as two passengers were arrested in a span of two days. Earlier in October, two passengers were arrested at the Mumbai airport and three packages containing foreign-origin gold cumulatively weighing 9487 gm valued at Rs 7.69 Crores were recovered. Both the passengers in their voluntary statements accepted that smuggled gold was concealed in the international route of the flight, which they had retrieved. It was also found that both the passengers were travelling with fake identities, added DRI Mumbai. Both the passengers were arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act, of 1962, added the press release.
