Bhubaneswar Music Circle organized a memorable Hindustani Vocal Recital at Jayadev Bhavan on May 19, 2026, drawing an enthusiastic gathering of classical music lovers, artistes, and cultural enthusiasts from across the city.The evening featured an enthralling performance by renowned vocalist Sangeeta Chamuah, whose soulful renditions of Hindustani Classical Music, devotional songs, and Assamese traditional compositions captivated the audience throughout the programme. Her performance reflected a fine blend of technical mastery, emotional depth, and spiritual essence, earning warm appreciation from the listeners.She was accompanied by noted tabla artiste Tapash Paul and harmonium accompanist Mita Pattanayak, whose skilled accompaniment added richness and vibrancy to the recital.Born in Assam, Sangeeta Chamuah received her initial musical training from her father Gandheswar Chamuah. She later honed her artistry under eminent gurus including Late Laxmi Saikia, Bidyut Kumar Mishra, and V. Balaji of Varanasi. She holds Master’s degrees in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music and English and was awarded a Gold Medal for excellence in music.Sangeeta is a B-High Grade Bhajan artiste of All India Radio, she has performed at numerous prestigious festivals and cultural events across India. Her repertoire includes Thumri, Ghazals, Bhajans, Assamese folk songs, and Bargeet, the sacred musical tradition of Assam associated with Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhavdeva.She is also a recipient of the Young Artist Scholarship and Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Bhubaneswar Music Circle thanked the artistes and members of the audience for making the programme a grand success.
