NTPC Talcher Thermal Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotism and Passion

Talcher : NTPC Talcher Thermal celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and pride at the TTPS Township Ground on 15 August 2026.
The programme commenced with the garlanding of the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by the Chief Guest, Shri Vijay Chand, Executive Director, Talcher Thermal Power Project. The Chief Guest, Shri Vijay Chand, has joined the gathering in singing Vande Mataram, evoking a strong sense of patriotism and national pride and unfurled the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem and Salami by CISF
Addressing the gathering, Shri Vijay Chand highlighted the significant role of NTPC in nation building and strengthening India’s energy security. He spoke about the achievements of NTPC Talcher Thermal and highlighted the progress being made in the 2×660 MW Talcher Thermal Stage-III expansion project, reiterating the commitment of NTPC towards excellence, sustainable development and reliable power generation.
The celebration was attended by Shri Praveer Kumar, GM (Project); Shri R.C. Yadav, DC, CISF; Smt. Vibha Aggarwal, President, Sagarika Ladies Club; Shri Rohit Kumar, AGM (HR); Smt. Bharti Singh, CMO; Heads of Departments; representatives of Unions and Associations; Principals and teachers of DAV Schools; students, employees, CISF personnel, family members and other stakeholders.
The celebrations featured vibrant and colourful cultural performances by children of Bal Bhawan, GEM girls and students of DAV schools, which added enthusiasm and patriotic spirit to the occasion.
An award ceremony was also organised to recognise and appreciate excellence and outstanding performance. Meritorious Awards were presented to deserving employees, while Best Student Awards were conferred upon students of DAV Thermal School and DAV Public School for their academic achievements and overall performance.
On the occasion, Shri Vijay Chand released tricolour balloons, symbolising the spirit of freedom, unity and national pride. He also distributed NTPC Utkarsh Merit Scholarships to meritorious students from surrounding village schools, reaffirming NTPC’s commitment towards education and the development of the local community.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of school children, NTPC employees and their family members, CISF personnel, students, teachers and stakeholders. The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment towards the progress of the nation and the continued contribution of NTPC Talcher Thermal towards nation building and community development.
