5 Jawans martyred after an encounter with Naxals

Chattisgarh, 3/4 (AO Bureau)In Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, there was a big encounter between the security forces and the Naxalites in Bijapur. In the encounter that lasted for about three to four hours, five soldiers were reported to be martyred, 12 others were injured. An encounter took place in the area between Singrel and Purnia of Tarrem police station area of ​​the district. During this time, some Naxalites are also killed. Meanwhile, two MI17 helicopters have been sent to Bijapur to rescue the injured soldiers. It is being told that more than 200 Naxalites were present on the spot.

According to information received from DGP DM Awasthi, one cobra battalion jawan, two Bastaria battalion jawans and two DRG jawans were martyred in the encounter. At the same time, the death of many Maoists has also been confirmed and the body of one has been confiscated by the police. The body which the police have seized is that of a female Maoist.

DIG Naxal OP Pal informed that the jawans had left for the operation on the night of 2 April. During this, the joint operations of CRPF, DRG, STF, and Korba from Bijapur and Sukma carried out operations. 760 were from Tararem in Bijapur, 200 from Usur, 195 from Pamhed, 483 from Meenpa of Sukma and 420 from Narasapuram. With this, the MI17 helicopter and Bijapur are being sent so that injured soldiers can be resumed. Also, other important items including ammunition can be transported.
