New Delhi, 30/4 (AO Bureau): The Insurance Regulator and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has directed insurers to settle any health insurance claim related to Kovid-19 within one hour of submission. So that patients get discharged soon. The IRDA directive came after an order from the Delhi High Court (Delhi HC). On April 28, the court asked IRDA to issue directives to insurance companies.
In fact, on April 28, the Delhi High Court has ordered the insurance companies to pass the bills of Covid-19 patients in 30 to 60 minutes. The court said that insurance companies cannot take 6-7 hours to approve the bill, as it delays the discharge of patients. At the same time, people in need of beds have to wait a lot.
