We have a chance to win the test: Joe Root

New Delhi,8/8: England captain Joe Root said that the ODI series against Sri Lanka helped him regain his batting rhythm. He kept the team’s hopes of victory alive by scoring a century in the second innings of the first Test (IND vs ENG) against India. Root, who failed to play a half-century in the last five Test matches, scored 64 runs in the first innings of the match, while batting brilliantly in the second innings scored 109 runs. He said that the target of 209 runs will not be easy for Team India.

With Joe Root’s 21st century in Tests, England’s team managed to cross the 300-run mark in the second innings. England’s second innings was reduced to 303 runs in 85.5 overs, giving India a challenging target of 209 runs to win. In the first innings, the entire team of England was out for 183 runs. By the end of the fourth day’s play, India have scored 52 runs for one wicket and are 157 runs away from the target. Team India scored 278 runs in the first innings.
