IAF promotes Abhinandan Varthaman

New Delhi, 3/11: Indian Air Force has promoted Balakot Airstrike Hero Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. Abhinandan has now been given the group captain rank. On 26 February 2019, the Indian Air Force had targeted the terrorist camp in Balakot, Pakistan. Frustrated by the attack, Pakistan tried to enter the Indian border on the second day, but Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman of the Indian Air Force shot down Pakistan’s F-16 fighter aircraft with a MiG-21 near the Line of Control in a dogfight. However, in a fight with Pakistan aircraft, Abhinandan fell in Pakistani area.

Abhinandan was taken into custody by the Pakistani army. His videos were released by the Pak Army on social media. These videos were later tweeted by several reputed news agencies including AFP from the official Twitter handle. In this Abhinandan was being questioned.
