J&K won’t remain Union Territory, Modi govt tells Supreme Court

Kashmir, 29/8: The Union government on Tuesday told the Supreme Court that the Union Territory status of Jammu and Kashmir is not a “permanent thing” while Ladakh will remain so for some times.

The Centre’s counsel, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, sought time till August 31 to further clarify its stand after seeking instructions at the highest level on the issue. He made the statement before a five-judge constitution bench led by Chief Justice
