Former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan quits Congress, likely to join BJP

Mumbai, 12/2:In a major jolt to the Congress and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi-I.N.D.I.A. bloc, veteran leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan resigned from the grand old party.

Chavan (65) is son of former Chief Minister and ex-Union Home Minister Shankarrao Chavan. Chavan, a former one-time Lok Sabha MP from Nanded and has represented Bhokar in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
