Supreme Court slams government over farmer protest

New Delhi, 11/1 (AO Bureau): Today is the 47th day of the farmers’ movement against the farm laws of the Modi government. Other applications related to the farmers’ movement, including the repeal of the new agricultural law, were heard in the Supreme Court. Chief Justice SA Bobde told the government that we are disappointed with the way the process is going. We do not know what the government is talking to the farmers. The CJI bluntly told the government that you will stop the agricultural laws or we should take action? The Supreme Court has asked the government to form a committee. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that the names will be handed over by tomorrow. In such a situation, today’s hearing is over without passing the order.

On January 8, there was talk of the eighth round with the farmers’ government, but no solution could be found in this conversation as the Center refused to repeal the controversial law. Now the ninth round is to be held on 15 January. Meanwhile, the farmer leaders said that they are ready to fight till the last breath and their ‘return home’ will be only after ‘return of law’.
