ICC Test Championship : Losing not an option for India

Ahmedabad, 26/2 (AO Bureau) Team India won the third Test in just two days. England lost by 10 wickets and was eliminated from the race for the final of the World Test Championship. Spinners took 28 wickets out of 30 matches played in Motera Test. This is the best performance of the spinners in the Pink Ball Test. With this, Team India has taken a 2–1 lead in the four-match series. The final match of the series (India vs England) will be on Motera from 4 March. Team India will just have to draw this match to reach the final of the World Test Championship. The New Zealand team has already reached the final.

Barring England’s Jack Crowley and India’s Rohit Sharma in the third Test, no player could score a half-century. But the threat to Team India is not yet averted. Two records are still far away from us. First, the biggest score in the series as a team. The English team had scored 578 runs in the first innings of the first Test. While the team could not score 350 runs in a single innings in the India series. Apart from this, Captain Root played big innings of 218 runs in the first Test for England. No batsman on our team has scored a double century. However, Rohit and R Ashwin have scored a century each. Captain Virat Kohli’s form is the most worrying. In just two out of five innings, he has scored more than 50 runs. 72 runs are his biggest score.
