Kerala Higher Education Minister resigns from his post

Kerala, 13/4 (Ao Bureau)Kerala Higher Education Minister KT Jaleel (KT Jaleel) resigned from the P Vijayan cabinet on Tuesday. A few days earlier, the state Lokayukta had said that Jalil has ‘misused his position as a public servant to benefit one of his relatives. Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said that Jalil has sent the resignation to the Chief Minister and the resignation letter has been sent to the Governor. The minister has confirmed the developments on Facebook.

A division bench of Lokayukta submitted its report against Jalil to the Chief Minister on Friday and said that the minister should not continue in office. The bench had said that allegations of misuse of power, benefits, and nepotism are proved against the minister.

The Lokayukta’s decision comes on a complaint made in 2018 by the leader of the Muslim Youth League, alleging that the rules have been ignored in appointing Adil, the brother of Jalil’s kin, as the general manager of the Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation.
