Bhubaneswar Kumar to be India’s captain !

New Delhi, 11/5 (Ao Bureau):Indian cricket team is going to tour Sri Lanka in July. Team India will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches on this tour. The special thing is that the ‘B’ team of Team India will go on this tour. Many players including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah will be on the England tour in July, so the BCCI will try the bench strength on the Sri Lanka tour. Now the question is, who will take the command of Team India on the tour of Sri Lanka? Former Team India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta believes that Shikhar Dhawan is in the race for captaincy. However, Deep Dasgupta also told Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the captaincy race.

Deep Dasgupta said in an interview that in the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan will be the senior most player in the team, so he should lead the team. However, Dasgupta also said that if Bhuvneshwar Kumar is fit, then he too has the power to take command of the team.

Will Bhuvneshwar Kumar become captain?

In a special conversation with Sports Today, Deep Dasgupta gave his opinion on the potential captains. Deep Dasgupta said, ‘Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not available at all. If KL Rahul is not here too, then the most senior player should take command of the team, which is Shikhar Dhawan. But don’t forget if Bhuvneshwar Kumar is fit then he is also a good contender for captaincy.

Deep Dasgupta also reacted to Bhuvneshwar Kumar not being selected for the tour of England. Dasgupta said, ‘I am not surprised that Bhuvi was not selected in the team. Team India already has 6 bowlers. I know that Bhuvneshwar Kumar would have proved dangerous under the circumstances of England but he has not played a Test match for two-and-a-half years. Also, he has a problem with injuries. You do not know whether his body will be able to withstand Test cricket or not. Maybe that’s why Team India did not take the risk.
