85 per cent of the total cases of Covid-19 in the country are from 10 states: Health Ministry

New Delhi, 15/5 (AO Bureau): The Union Health Ministry said on Saturday that 85 per cent of the total cases of Covid-19 in the country are from 10 states. The ministry said that 11 states have more than one lakh under-treatment cases of infection, while eight states have between 50 thousand and one lakh under-treatment patients. It said that the infection rate in 24 states is more than 15 percent.

Health Ministry’s Joint Secretary Luv Aggarwal said that there is a decrease in active cases in the country. On May 3, the recovery rate was 81.3 percent, after which recovery has improved. Now the recovery rate is 83.83 percent. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat where Covid cases are very high, there has been a decrease in active cases in the last 1 week. There has been an increase in active cases in the last 1 week in Tamil Nadu

There are 24 states and union territories in the country where there is more than 15 percent positivity rate. The positivity rate is 5 to 10 per cent. Less than 5 percent of the positivity rate is in 3. In the last 1 week, 18 state and union territory positivity rates have come down. The nationwide positivity rate, which was 21.9 percent, has now come down to 19.8 percent.

According to the updated data of the Union Health Ministry on Saturday, there have been 3,26,098 new cases of pandemic in the country, taking the total number of infected people to 2,43,72,907. With this, 3,890 more people have died due to the epidemic in the country, taking the total number of dead to 2,66,207. The ministry said that the number of under-treated patients in the country has come down to 36,73,802, which is 15.07 percent of the total cases. The national rate of recovery has increased to 83.83 percent.
