New Delhi, 5/6 (AO Bureau): The government has given a ‘last warning’ to the microblogging platform Twitter regarding the new IT rules. The government on Saturday gave Twitter the last chance to appoint an Indian official. Along with this, the government has also made it clear that if this is not done, the company should be ready for the ‘consequences’. The dispute between the Center and Twitter has been going on for a long time. Today, the company had removed the Blue Tick badge of the Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu. However, later it was also restored.
The government said, ‘Twitter is being given a final notice to comply with the rules immediately. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of exemption under Section 79 of the IT Act 2000 and Twitter will be liable to penalties as per the IT Act and other laws. Even before this, the government has asked the company to share the information and appointment of the Indian officer. At the same time, there was news that many companies like Google, Facebook have given information to the government.
Blue tick game started on Saturday
On Saturday, Twitter removed the blue tick badge from Vice President Naidu’s personal account. It was being said that the company had taken this step due to the account being inactive for 6 months. After this action taken by the company, once again the leaders had objected to it. A few days ago, Twitter had described the tweets made by some BJP leaders as ‘manipulated’.
