COVID-19 Delta+: Delta Plus variant found in three districts of Maharashtra

Mumbai, 20/6 (AO Bureau):The second wave of corona virus infection in India (COVID-19 2nd Wave) has almost stopped, but the danger is not over yet. New variants of Corona have been seen in Maharashtra. It has been named Delta Plus. Let us tell you that this new form of corona has appeared only after the mutation in the delta variant ((B.1.617.2)). Samples of this new variant are currently found from three regions of Maharashtra – Ratnagiri, Navi Mumbai and Palghar. At present, it has been kept in the category of ‘Variants of Interest’, that is, an attempt will be made to find out how it is changing its form. It is a matter of relief that at present it has not been placed in ‘Variants of Concern’, that is, there is no immediate concern.
On the other hand, the English newspaper Hindustan Times has written quoting an expert that if there is a third wave of corona in India, then only the Delta Plus variant will be responsible for it. Along with this, it has also been claimed that active cases from this variant can go from 8 to 10 lakhs, out of which 10 percent can be of children. It is being said that this new variant of corona can also dodge the immune system.

Cases are increasing in western Maharashtra
Let us tell you that the cases of corona are continuously decreasing in Maharashtra. But it is to be noted that the cases of corona are increasing continuously in the districts of western Maharashtra including Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara and Sangli. The positivity rate here is also very high. Talking to the English newspaper Indian Express, Director of Medical Education and Research (DMER) Dr T P Lahane said, “We have got Delta-Plus in Navi Mumbai, Palghar and Ratnagiri. After that, we have sent more samples. But the final report is awaited.
