Central government approves Zydus Cadila’s 3-dose corona vaccine

New Delhi, 20/8:Now another vaccine has been added to the ongoing vaccination in the country against the Corona epidemic (Covid-19 Pandemic). The central government has approved the 3-dose corona vaccine of the pharma company Zydus Cadila. The name of this vaccine is ZyCov-D. The Expert Committee of the Drug Controller General of India has approved the emergency use of this vaccine on Friday. The committee has also sought additional data from the pharma company on the effect of 2 doses of this vaccine.

Generic pharmaceutical company Cadila Healthcare Limited had applied for permission for emergency use of ZyCoV-D on July 1. This application was made on the basis of the last stage trial conducted on 28 thousand volunteers. The efficacy rate of the vaccine was revealed to be 66.6 percent. It has also been said that this vaccine is completely safe even for the age group of 12 to 18. However, its trial data has not been peer reviewed yet.

India now has five vaccines including Zydus-Cadila
If this vaccine is fully approved after emergency use, then it will be India’s second indigenous vaccine. Earlier, Bharat Biotech and ICMR together made the first indigenous corona vaccine, Covaccine. At present, a total of 4 vaccines have been allowed in the country. Covishield, Covaccine, Sputnik, Moderna. Now by adding Zydus vaccine, this number will increase to five.

Earlier, Zydus Cadila had said that it can launch the vaccine within two months after getting the approval. The ZyCov-D vaccine has been developed jointly by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and the Indian Council of Medical Research. This vaccine can be stored in a normal freezer at 2 to 8 °C.
