Mumbai, 24/8:Union Minister Narayan Rane has been arrested by the police for his controversial remarks against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in Maharashtra. Rane had filed an anticipatory bail application in Ratnagiri Court, which was rejected by the court. After being taken into custody, Rane can now appear in Ratnagiri court, due to which the security of the court has been increased. After being arrested, Rane’s medical test will now be done. Rane’s plea seeking quashing of the FIR against him for his remarks against the Maharashtra CM will be filed in the Bombay High Court tomorrow. His lawyer says that the petition could not be filed today as the court’s official hours were over. A petition has been filed for urgent hearing on Rane’s petition.
After Rane’s arrest, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that, we do not support Rane’s statement regarding Uddhav Thackeray but I as a person and our party stands with him. Sharjeel Usmani had abused Bharat Mata but no FIR was registered against her but the state government registered an FIR against Narayan Rane.
