Big Breaking: CDS Bipin Rawat died in army helicopter crash

New Delhi, 8/12: In a heartbreaking news , the Indian Air Force confirmed that CDS Bipin Rawat, her wife Mrs Madhulika Rawat have died in the helicopter crash in  Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.

The chopper with nine senior military officials on board took off from the Sulur Air Base in Coimbatore on Wednesday morning and was bound for Wellington in the Nilgiris.

 

Rawat was appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff, the chief of the tri-services of the Indian Armed Forces, in December 2019.

 

The general joined the army as a second lieutenant in 1978 and has four decades of service behind him, having commanded forces in Indian-administered Kashmir and along the Line of Actual Control bordering China.
