Huge Setback for Lucknow Supergiant before IPL

Ahmedabad, 18/9: The new IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants has suffered a major setback before the start of the tournament. England fast bowler Mark Wood has been ruled out of the 15th season of IPL 2022 due to injury. Wood has an injury to his right elbow. The upcoming season of IPL will start from March 26 in Mumbai. In the first match, there will be a clash between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. Lucknow Supergiants, captained by KL Rahul, will start their campaign on March 28 against Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans.

 

According to the report of the website SPNcricinfo, Mark Wood will miss the IPL starting March 26 due to injury to his right elbow during the first Test match against West Indies last week. Wood was bought by the new IPL team Lucknow Super Giants in the players’ auction last month for Rs 7.5 crore. At present, Mark Wood, one of the best bowlers in limited overs cricket, was able to bowl only 17 overs in the match against West Indies in the North Sound Test. Wood did not bowl in the second innings.
