GST Collections Hits All Time High In December 2020

New Delhi, 1/1: In a bright spot amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, the Goods and Services Tax(GST) collected in the month of December is ₹ 1,15,174 crore. Out of the total amount, CGST was ₹ 21,365 crore, SGST was ₹ 27,804 crore, IGST was ₹ 57,426 crore and cess was ₹ 8,579 crore. The total number of GSTR-3B Returns filed for November up to December 31, 2020, was 87 lakhs.

Previously the highest GST was collected in April 2019. The amount collected was Rs 1,13,866 crore. The current GST revenue has surpassed the previous highest collection. Last month  Rs. 1,04.963 crore was collected through GST revenue. This is the third time that the GST revenue has crossed Rs. 1.1 lakh crore, since its introduction in 2016.

The average growth in GST revenues during the last quarter has been 7.3 percent as compared to -8.2 percent during the second quarter and -41.0 percent during the first quarter of the financial year.
