Chennai, 7/2 (AO Bureau): The visiting team England posted a mammoth score of 578 against the host India on the third day of the opening Test against India here on Sunday.
England skipper Joe Root played a brilliant and marathon innings of 218 and Opener Dominic Sibey and Ben Stokes were the other notable contributors with innings of 87 and 82 respectively.
For India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets each. Pacer Ishant Sharma And spinner Shahbaz Nadeem took 2 wickets each.
