Kiran Bedi’s first statement after being removed as Lt. Governor of Puducherry

Puducherry,17/2(AO Bureau): After being removed from the post of Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi said that she was thankful to the people of the Union Territory. Bedi was suddenly removed from her post on Tuesday night. A brief release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson Ajay Kumar Singh said that the President has directed that Kiran Bedi “will no longer be the Lt. Governor of Puducherry”.

President Ram Nath Kovind has given the additional charge of the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry to the Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana. This new responsibility will take effect from the time he takes over as the Lieutenant Governor and he will remain in this post till there is regular arrangement of the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.

After being removed from the post, Bedi said, ‘I thank the Government of India for the experience of a lifetime in Puducherry as Lieutenant Governor. I also thank all those who worked closely with me. I can say with satisfaction that during this tenure, ‘Team Raj Niwas’ served the people with great dedication.’
