Chief Minister V Narayanasamy introduced a vote of confidence in the House. During this, the Chief Minister told the House that his government had a majority. However, later Narayanasamy’s government lost its majority during the trust vote. At the same time, before presenting the trust vote, he demanded full statehood. After the resignation of Congress MLA K Laxminarayanan and DMK MLA Venkatesan on Sunday, the number of MLAs of the Congress-DMK alliance in the 33-member assembly has come down to 11, while the opposition parties have 14 MLAs. Former Minister A.K. Four Congress MLAs, including Namasivayam (now in BJP) and Malladi Krishna Rao, had earlier resigned, while another MLA from the party was disqualified. Narayanasamy’s close aide John Kumar also resigned this week.
