Another setback for TMC ahead of upcoming assembly election

West Bengal, 18/3 (AO Bureau) : BJP candidate Shubhendu Adhikari from the Nandigram constituency in the West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 has announced that his father Shishir Adhikari announced on March 24 that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the rally. On March 24, PM Modi will rally in Kanthi in East Midnapore. East Midnapore is the home district of the Adhikari family. The officer said, “Earlier on March 21, I will send my father to Amit Shah’s rally.”

Earlier, senior Trinamool Congress MP Shishir Adhikari said on Sunday that if he is invited, he will attend the public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kanthi. The Shishir Adhikari had said, “If I am invited and my sons allow it, I will attend the  public meeting.” The leader’s two sons Shubhendu and Soumendu Adhikari have joined the BJP. Another of his sons Dibyendu is an MP from TMC.

BJP MP Lockett Chatterjee had gone to Shishir Adhikari’s residence on Saturday and had lunch together. However, both of them described it as a ‘courtesy call’. Shishir has been associated with the Trinamool Congress since the beginning but since his son changed sides, he has not been clear about the support of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. On Wednesday, Shishir said that he does not know whether he is in Trinamool or not.
