Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu dares Amarinder Singh to prove he wanted to switch sides

Chandigarh, 22/5 (AO Bureau): Amid speculation of factionalism in Punjab’s Congress unit, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has challenged the Chief Minister of the state, Amarinder Singh, to prove the allegation of trying to defect against him.

Sidhu has been a critic of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in the case of the absurdity of the religious text. The MLA from Amritsar said that he has never spoken to anyone for any position, but he was offered to join the cabinet several times. He has uploaded a video on Twitter, in which he is seen in pictures with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court last month quashed the investigation report submitted by the Punjab Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding the Kotkapura firing and since then Sidhu has been criticizing Chief Minister Amarinder Singh over the matter. The incident took place in Faridkot, Punjab, during the protests against the inappropriateness of the religious text.
The Chief Minister of Punjab had also criticized Sidhu and termed him as ‘completely undisciplined’ and said that Sidhu can join the Aam Aadmi Party. Sidhu said in a tweet on Saturday, ‘You should also tell about one such meeting in which I have met another party leader. I have not requested anyone for any position till now. I only want the prosperity of Punjab. Many times I was offered to join the cabinet, but I did not accept. Now, our high command has intervened, will wait. ‘
