Basavaraj Bommai is Karnataka’s new chief minister

Bangalore, 27/7 (AO Bureau):Basavaraj S Bommai will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. The decision was taken at the party’s legislature party meeting held here on Tuesday to begin the process of selecting the new chief minister of the state after senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader BS Yeddyurappa resigned as the chief minister of Karnataka. Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and G Krishna Reddy, observers of the BJP central leadership, also attended the meeting. Basavaraj was the Home Minister in Yediyurappa’s cabinet.

After the legislature party meeting, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed that the new Chief Minister of Karnataka would be Basavaraj Bommai. A meeting of the party legislature party was called at 7 pm at a private hotel in Bengaluru. The cabinet has already been dissolved. Now there will be a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board where the final decision (regarding the new Chief Minister) will be taken. Yeddyurappa had resigned from the post on Monday, the day of completion of two years of his tenure.
