A Cleanliness Drive Organized at Utkal Alumina

Tikiri/Rayagada: In line with the Government’s Clarion Call for Swachh Bharat Mission and to spread awareness about the cleanliness of one’s surroundings, the Baphlimali Mines of Utkal Alumina, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group has observed a cleanliness drive (Swachhata Pakhwada) under the banner of Indian Bureau of Mines, Bhubaneswar.

Through Wall paintings, Street Plays, Rallies, Essay and Speech Competitions at Schools of Surrounding Villages, it ensured that the message of cleanliness is better propagated to the grassroots level and beyond the periphery. Through this program, the Baphlimali Mines fraternity ensured that its vision of clean and healthy environment is well manifested into reality and resonated well with their spirit of enhancing the quality of life of common people.

The Celebration spanned over a period of 15 days during which the Baphlimali Mines Team visited schools of nearby villages in which it conducted many competitions and encouraged young students to drive cleanliness activities in their lives. Also, the Baphlimali Mines Employees along with local villagers swept and cleaned some residential as well as office areas thus ensuring that the message of cleanliness is kept in letter and spirit.

The closing day of the event witnessed some Oath taking moments, flag distribution and Prize distribution to School Students for their active participation in Competitions. This Programme was conducted under the able guidance of Mines Head Mr. Mukesh Jha, Head-Geology, Mr. K. C. Jyotishi and CSR Head, Dr. Lopamudra Priyadarsini.

Speaking on the occasion, the Unit Head of UAIL, Mr. Mazhar Beig applauded the efforts of the mines fraternity for spearheading such initiative and has urged the mines team to leave no stone unturned in their pursuits of promoting a healthy and clean environment in their surroundings as well as their premises. The program ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Pradyumna Das.

As a responsible corporate citizen, UAIL is deeply engaged in executing its CSR activities in peripheral villages in the area of education, healthcare, sustainable livelihood, and rural infrastructure and addressing the issues of social concern, overall UAIL is engaged in 57 villages serving more than 30,000 populations in Odisha.
