Corona: Antibodies in two thirds of the country, was herd immunity achieved in India?

New Delhi, 20/7 9Ao Bureau):The central government said on Tuesday that about 40 crore people may still be vulnerable to Kovid-19 infection. According to a nationwide survey, SARS-CoV-2 antibodies have been found in two-thirds or 67.6 percent of India’s population above the age of six. Announcing the findings of the 4th National COVID Sero Survey (4th Sero Survey) conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in June-July, ICMR Director General Dr Balram Bhargava warned that there is no need for happiness in the fight against the pandemic. There is no place.

The Union Health Ministry informed about the results of the fourth survey conducted in 70 districts of 21 states in a briefing on Coronavirus. These surveys were conducted in the districts where the last three rounds of survey were conducted. The ICMR director said that in the recent national sero survey, two-thirds or 67.6 percent of India’s population above the age of six years have found SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.

Bhargava said that a third of the population does not have this antibody, which means that about 400 million people are still at risk of corona virus infection.

According to the government, 85 percent of the health workers surveyed have antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and 10 percent of the health workers have not yet been vaccinated. 28,975 general public and 7,252 health workers were covered in the survey.

The fourth round of survey was conducted in 70 districts in 21 states, where the last three rounds of survey were also conducted. Emphasizing on following the rules related to Kovid-19, Bhargava said that social, religious and political gatherings should be avoided and unnecessary travel should be avoided. “One should travel only after getting fully immunized,” he said.
